This week we are going to research the flags of the Caribbean - have a go at the flag quiz before and after your research - can you improve your score? Why not challenge a family member - who can score the highest? http://www.lizardpoint.com/flags/flags_of_Caribbean.php Take a look at the Carnival masks created in year 4. We had fun decorating our masks with feathers, jewels, pom poms and different types of paper! This week in Craft Club the children have been putting the final touches to their button art work. Not only have they created the picturesquely have also designed their frames. Year Four have been busy making electrical circuits in science. They had to connect the components to activate the buzzer. They did a really good job! Carnival time is always full of colour, music, dancing and fun! Imagine you were taking part in a carnival - how would you feel? What would you do? This week in Big Writing we have been writing a descriptive account of a hurricane. Jamie wrote a fantastic piece. Here it is:
The weather forecast thinks that there is going to be a storm coming! People started barricading their doors and windows with wooden planks. They were getting: food, drinks and supplies for the storm shelter. Soon they went to the storm shelter with their children and pets. Suddenly, out of the corner of one eye I saw and heard…a furious storm, twisting tornadoes, hurrying hurricane, leering lightning, houses collapsing, trees bending, waves splashing and wind whistling. Without warning, the storm came to the atmosphere and ripped through the terrain like a lion ripping through its meat. I was scared, petrified, nervous, worried and terrified (by the looks of it everyone was too). Finally, the storm went and I saw fallen trees, upside down cars, but at least the storm was over. This half term we will be studying the Caribbean, bringing a bit of sunshine to the start if 2014! Watch this space for the work we will be producing! Happy New Year! Hope you have all had a lovely Christmas break and are ready for the exciting things 2014 holds. |
